Eagles Open Season With Winning Weekend
Bourbonnais, IL – The Eagles opened their season with three matches at the Olivet Invite, shaking off a slow start before rallying to finish the weekend with a winning mark and positive momentum heading into the year.
Judson began the invite against Rio Grande but dropped the opener in straight sets. Newcomer Matthew Leith paced the offense with eight kills, while Adrian Martinez dished out 11 assists. Defensively, veteran Jackson Otto anchored the back row, leading the Eagles with 15 digs.
Judson quickly turned the page in match two, earning a 3–1 victory over Midway. Leith once again led the way with 12 kills, while Oracio Martinez joined him in double figures with 10. Leith also contributed across the stat sheet with seven digs and two service aces.
Adrian Martinez followed up with 25 assists, with Daniel Yap adding 10 more. Otto continued his strong defensive play, recording 19 digs in the four-set win. The Eagles also served aggressively, finishing the match with eight aces to close out Thursday night on a high note.
On Friday, Judson capped the invite with a sweep of Graceland, winning 25-22, 25-19, 25-20 to finish 2–1 on the weekend.
Team captain Mikey Noettl led the Eagles with 16 kills, while fellow captain Mason Snodgrass added 12 in his first action of the season. Gabriele Cantrell contributed 13 assists, following Adrian Martinez's 18, and Grant Shipley added a strong presence at the net with four blocks.
Winners of two straight, the Eagles will look to keep the momentum going as they travel to Goshen on Tuesday night for their next match.
