Elgin, IL - On Tuesday night, it was the Eagles' annual Pink Out night to honor and support Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The fight against breast cancer is a cause very close to the women's volleyball family. Perhaps that extra motivation provided a spark for the Eagles as they came out playing superb.
Judson was able to make it a clean sweep, 3-0 over the visiting Calumet Crimson Wave. The line score read: 25-21, 25-18, and 25-16.
It was a solid night for Maisie Green as she had 11 of the team's 34 kills. Ariadna Marquez added seven kills.
JU had eight service aces in the three set victory. Camila Fundora had two of them, along with 11 digs.
Off of the bench, Natalie Dalton provided nice contributions with four kills on a stellar .429 kill percentage.
After a rough week where Judson went 0-3, all in conference play, the win was much needed for the squad.
With the win, Judson sits at 6-10 overall, and 4-8 in conference play. Currently on the outside of the top 8 seeds, JU needs to bunch a few wins together to get back into things.
They get a full week of rest before traveling up to Viterbo to take on the conference leading V-Hawks next Tuesday.
But on Tuesday night, the victory was secondary to the awareness and recognition of wearing pink to show support for anyone affected by breast cancer.
The Judson women's volleyball community does a great job showing support, and on a victory Tuesday, it makes the pink a little more brighter.
