Eagles Compete Against Holy Cross
Crystal Lake, IL - The Judson University women's tennis team competed in a home match at Crystal Lake against a very tough Holy Cross opponent. The Eagles came into the match determined to compete and give their best effort on their home courts.
In doubles play, the No. 1 pairing of Erin Jacobs and Charlie Stirling battled hard but ultimately fell in a close 6-4 match. At No. 2 doubles, Ruth Hernandez and Carla Guerrero faced a strong Holy Cross team and lost 6-0. The Eagles trailed heading into singles competition.
Singles play proved challenging as well. At the No. 5 spot, Anna Illes fell 6-0, 6-0. Carla Guerrero, playing at No. 3 singles, lost 6-2, 6-2, which secured the match-clinching point for Holy Cross and brought the team score to 4-0.
Despite the final score, several matches remained highly competitive. At No. 1 singles, Erin Jacobs showed resilience by winning the first set 7-5 and was tied 2-2 in the second set when play was halted. At No. 2 singles, Charlie Stirling dropped a close first set 6-4 but was leading 3-1 in the second. Both matches went unfinished due to the match being clinched.
Although it was a tough outing, the Eagles are looking ahead with determination. They are preparing for this Saturday's match, which will also serve as Senior Day, where they will celebrate senior Anna Illyes. The team is eager to bounce back and secure a win this weekend.
