Eagles Compete At NIU
DeKalb, IL - The women's tennis team travelled to Northern Illinois University to take on a very tough Division I opponent. Facing a strong NIU squad, the girls battled hard but ultimately came up short against their experienced opponents.
In doubles play, the number one pairing of Erin Jacobs and Charlie Stirling fell 6-1. The second doubles team of Carla Guerrero and Ruth Hernandez also fought with determination but were defeated 6-1. Despite the scores, both pairings continued to compete and push through challenging points against high-level competition.
Singles play followed with NIU maintaining momentum throughout the line-up. At the number one position, Erin Jacobs lost 6–0, 6–1. Charlie Stirling, playing at number two, fell 6–0, 6–1. Carla Guerrero at number three lost 6–0, 6–0.
At number four, Ruth Hernandez competed hard but was defeated 6–1, 6–2. Anna Illes, playing at number five, lost 6–0, 6–0. Nicol Valeria Torres Villamil also competed in an exhibition match and fell 6–0.
Although the results were not in the women's favour, the team showed effort and resilience against a very strong Division I opponent. With a couple of weeks before their next match, the women will return to practice focused and motivated, ready to put in the work necessary to improve and prepare for their upcoming competition.
