Elgin, IL - After opening with two defeats, the Eagles once again took the home field to take on Indiana Tech. On a lovely afternoon at Dawson Field, the Eagles were able to push a goal into the back of the net for their first victory of the season.
In the first half, Judson and Indiana Tech battled to a scoreless tie at the half. It was a half that saw Judson control the pace for the most part, and out-shot the Warriors 5-3.
In the second half, the Eagles again came out dictating the pace. Finally, in the 57th minute, newcomer Liza Von Blumenthal was able to find the back of the net for the goal. Her first goal of the season, and of her Judson career, gave the Eagles the 1-0 lead.
Stellar defense by Judson, and a strong effort by star captain goalie Eva Fernandez were able to make the one goal lead hold up for the win.
Fernandez was credited with five saves in the victory.
Von Blumenthal nearly had a second goal in the match, as she blasted a supurb shot off of the right post that would have given the Eagles a 2-0 lead.
Anika Elgin and Amira El Mansouri led JU with three shots each, and two shots each on goal. For the game, Judson out-shot Indiana Tech 13-8.
Judson will get a full week of rest before hosting Morningside next Saturday.
