Eagles Come Out Victories
Marion, IN - The Judson University Men's Tennis team wrapped up its second match of the day in Marion, Indiana, taking on Anderson University in a competitive battle.
The Eagles came out strong in doubles play, securing the all-important doubles point with gritty performances across all three courts.
At No. 1 doubles, the duo of Joshua Bavich and Brayden Kopp battled through a tiebreaker to clinch a 7–6 win. On court two, Florian Koppitsch and Brock Dawson were dominant from start to finish, earning a 6–2 victory.
Meanwhile, Niel Hentrich and Javier Sanchez held their nerve in another tiebreak, pulling out a 7–6 win at No. 3 doubles to complete the sweep and give Judson early momentum.
In singles, the Eagles found themselves in several hard-fought, three-set matches. At No. 1 singles, Bavich showed resilience after dropping the first set, ultimately gutting out a dramatic 1–6, 6–3, 12–10 super tiebreak win. Kopp battled at No. 2 singles, trading dominant sets before falling just short in the deciding breaker, 6–0, 0–6, 8–10.
Julius Fortun fought hard at No. 3, but came up on the wrong side of a tight second-set tiebreak in a 2–6, 6–7 loss.
The Eagles regained momentum at No. 4 singles, where Judson's lineup secured a straight-sets win, 6–0, 7–5. At No. 5 singles, Ian Beeman delivered another clutch three-set victory, winning his super tiebreak to extend Judson's lead. Closing out the lineup, Hentrich capped a strong day with a commanding 6–1, 6–3 win at No. 6 singles.
With their efforts across the lineup, Judson battled through a long day of tennis to earn key victories against Anderson.
The Eagles now turn their attention to the upcoming ITA Regional Tournament, hosted by Holy Cross from September 25–27, where they'll look to build on this momentum and test themselves against top regional competition.
