Eagles Fall To Ranked Conference Foe
South Bend,IN- Judson University men's tennis took on a major challenge Saturday, facing off against the reigning conference champions and No. 9-ranked team in the NAIA, Holy Cross College. The Eagles ultimately fell 0–4, but not without showing flashes of promise against one of the nation's top teams.
Freshman Javier Sanchez delivered a standout performance in singles, capturing a 6-3 first-set win against Polis Koursaros before the match was halted due to clinch rules. Brayden Kopp also showed grit in his singles match, keeping pace in long rallies with Holy Cross's Adam Singleton.
In doubles action, the No. 1 pairing of Chadd Kerrigan and Joshua Bavich put together a strong showing against Gregg and McManus—currently ranked No. 2 in the country—holding their own in a competitive 6-3 match. Across all three doubles lines, the Eagles demonstrated growing chemistry and sharpness that continue to develop match by match.
Though Holy Cross ultimately secured the overall win, Judson gained valuable experience and confidence playing at such a high level. The match served as a key learning moment for the Eagles as they continue building momentum in the heart of the season.
Judson will look to bounce back quickly, traveling to Bethel on Thursday before returning to conference play on Saturday against St. Ambrose. With a hardworking young core and strong leadership, the Eagles are steadily progressing toward their goals.
