Notre Dame, IN - A week ago, the Eagles traveled out to Holy Cross for a regular season matchup to determine seeding for the CCAC playoffs. A 2-1 setback meant that tonight JU traveled back across the border for the first round of the conference playoffs.
Judson was able to control the pace in the first half winning the shots battle 10-5 against Holy Cross. In the 38th minute, Mateo Vadora broke through with the first goal of the night off an assist from Ovidio Paez. It is Vadora's second goal of the season, and both coming in the last six games.
The Eagles took the 1-0 lead into halftime.
In the second half, Judson kept the pressure on not allowing any quality scoring chances for Holy Cross.
The Eagles were able to get some insurance on the scoreboard. In the 59th minute, Fernando Nkumah tallied his fifth goal of the season off an assist from Daniel Collado Lopez.
To cap things off, in the 83rd minute, it was Paez with his second assist of the game, setting up JU's third goal of the night, off of the foot of Jesus Guerrero.
The final score would be 3-0 in favor of the Eagles. In net, the steady Ivan Dominguez was credited with three saves in a shutout effort.
Judson will advance to the semi-finals to take on the top seed Olivet Nazarene Tigers on Saturday afternoon. The Tigers were 10-0-0 in conference play in the regular season. They defeated Judson 3-1 back on October 22nd.
With the win, the Eagles are now 7-7-5 overall. The winner of the Tigers-Eagles match will advance to the CCAC championship next week.
