Elgin, IL - In a battle of NCCAA teams, the Eagles took on the Bethel Pilots at Dawson Field.
The match was well played throughout. Each team, evenly matched, setting up and designing plays, the pace had a smooth flow to the game.
While Bethel outshot Judson 6-1 in the first half, both team had some attacking chances. Just before half, Bethel had an attack going, but the Eagle defense was able to hold strong as the game went into halftime 0-0.
After the intermission, Bethel again started off on the attack. In the 56th minute, the Pilots had a penalty shot that goalie Ivan Dominguez was able to make a diving save at, and deny the chance. Dominguez finished with seven saves on the day.
However, in the 60th minute, Bethel was able to break through with slipping a goal into the right corner of the net for a 1-0 lead. Shots in the second half was in favor of Bethel 11-3.
Still, Judson had an opportunity. In the 84th minute, Mateo Vadora had a shot hit off of the cross bar and was denied. Two minutes later, Gabriel Orsini had a shot from about 30 yards away sail just over the bar.
That was the Eagles last true chance as JU fell 1-0 in the match.
With all but one non-conference match complete, Judson stands at 1-4-2 on the season. In the first seven games, the Eagles have faced a challenging schedule, and have only allowed one goal or fewer in all seven contests. Yet, the offense has yet to be there on a consistent basis for JU.
Judson will look to change that as conference play begins September 24th when the Eagles face Trinity Christian.
