Eagles Fall In Double Overtime
Elgin, IL - Judson battled through 50 grueling minutes of basketball and forced overtime on a clutch three-pointer at the end of regulation, but Trinity Christian outlasted the Eagles 87–81 in a double-overtime thriller on Saturday afternoon.
The Eagles (2–8, 0–4 CCAC) led by as many as 12 points in the second half and held a 40–31 halftime advantage, shooting over 51% in the opening period. But Trinity Christian (4–4, 2–2 CCAC) stormed back behind a dominant rebounding performance and 35 bench points, eventually overtaking Judson late.
Trailing 69–66 with seconds remaining, Judson forced a turnover and found Bronson Bartuch, who buried a deep game-tying three with two seconds left to send the game to overtime and ignite the Lindner Fitness Center crowd.
In overtime, both teams traded big plays in the first overtime. EJ Reese provided a big slam dunk off a feed from Hunter Duncan. Jared Russell's clutch free throw with four seconds left forced a double overtime.
In the second overtime, Trinity finally pulled away, opening the frame with a 6–2 run and getting several key defensive stops. Judson was held without a field goal in the final minute, while Trinity secured the win at the line and with a final fast-break basket.
EJ Reese powered Judson with a dominant interior performance: 20 points, 10 rebounds, 4 steals, 1 block, and shot 9-for-13 from the field
